I got a chance to see the much talked about and much awaited documentary by Ayesha Khan “MADE IN PAKISTAN”. I must say its yet another masterpiece from the Indus Valley Productions, Made in Pakistan is a documentary film that aims to portray the true picture of Pakistan that is often misrepresented to the global masses.
The story revolves around the four Pakistanis namely; Rabia, the working mother and journalist! Waleed, a lawyer with the beard who returned from London! Tara, the outgoing single publicist and Mohsin, the aspiring politician. A very critical thing shown in the documentary is the black political mission of Talibanization.
Moreover, the story features Pakistan’s internationally acclaimed talents such as fashion, style, music, drama etc. The movie also vows to discredit the sensationalists foreign media who have been creating hypes by pronouncing Pakistan as the most dangerous country.
As the trailer of the documentary shows a foreigner says: ‘I don’t find an ounce of like danger here’ Nasir Khan, the director of the film expresses “the sensationalism of men in beards stalking the streets of Islamabad may sell newspapers abroad but the country and its silent urban majority such as the four individuals featured here also hold high stakes in what Pakistan is and what it will become in the future.”
I am sure you people must be much excited to watch this documentary out. So tickets are now available and you can check this out. And for now, watch out the Promo.. cuz i couldn’t post the entire video here (:
The global players claiming to be champions of democracy and freedom of the media are using their media outlets as instruments to further their political, economic and foreign policy agendas.
Interestingly the so-called independent and liberal media of various countries supports them so that they can realize their national objectives. Hence they too are the agents of global political and economic powers.
Foreign Channels contributing to local channel's content. Why?
This can be illustrated by the role of the CNN, BBC and others who supported their governments in the Gulf and Iraq wars. It is a classic example of a ‘marriage of convenience’ and ‘symbiotic relationship’ between different forms of power including political, economic, coercive and symbolic media power as identified by John B.
Thompson. By closely monitoring the international media one can easily conclude that they are protecting and promoting their national interests. Gone are the days when wars were only fought on the battlefield. Now the media has become an indispensable component of the war strategy. Manipulation of the media by political powers during wartime has altogether redefined the concept and definition of war.
At present, Pakistan is engaged in a media war which is planned and systematic. The country is not only the victim of physical terror but also of media terrorism launched by the foreign media and their sponsors. Often, questionable and baseless stories are aired by the foreign media which besides tarnishing the image of the country are meant to put pressure on the Pakistani government, leading to an environment of uncertainty, fear and political turmoil. Why are VOA and BBC programmes being aired on private Pakistani TV and radio channels? What is the agenda? Are these being run out of altruistic motives? Or is it simply to improve the image of the US and Britain in Pakistan? The public has a right to know under what terms, conditions and arrangements the private channels allow this. It is shocking that our indigenous media should be offering space to foreign and local forces that can be charged with airing programmes against Pakistan’s national interest. Do you know what happens when you’re born in an overwhelming surrounding of computers & monitors, and that happens to be Mr Abdul Shahid Sadiq’s home in Dera Ismail Khan?
You get a family from Dera Ismail Khan, Pakistan. Just not a typical family, a family which has 5 kids; and all of those kids are extraordinary in their own self. How? Well quite simple, The family has 5 kids (3 boys & 2 girls), all of whom are Microsoft Certified Professionals. The list include Asif, Kashif, Babar, Saima and Asifa.
This in itself is an achievement to have a family of 5 MCPs, but no the story doesn’t end here. Asifa Khan is the second youngest Microsoft Certified Professional in the family, she achieved the status at a minuscule age of 11 years, 4 months and 17 days.
Babar Iqbal
Whereas Babar Iqbal at just a mere age of 12 years has recently added a fourth crown in his elusive list of achievements. Babar a genius cyber kid just at the age of 10 years, achieved a whole lot more than many of us could dream of accomplishing in our entire life. When he was only 9 years old, he was awarded with Youngest Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) and Youngest Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA), at the age of 10 he was given Youngest Certified Web Professional Associate (CIWA).
More recently he made a fourth record in his 12th year as he got the Youngest Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) at Dubai. Hmmm I am wondering what was he up to for 2 years, no records?! The competition had participants from all over the world, they aged between 20 – 35 years. But this little Dexter from Pakistan stunned the IT experts’ world over as he just walked all over of them as he stormed towards yet another achievement. He also surpassed his compatriot Irfa Kareem Randhawa, who made this record at the age of 9 years and seven months.
I am starting to wonder what the world is coming to, with little kids at such small ages creating such headlines. People I warn you, don’t be surprised if a few years down the road the first word that a new born utters might be “Internet”.
Hopefully greater things can be expected of this exceptionally talented teenager, as he has plans to be the youngest PhD in the world and contribute significantly to the world by his skills of IT. I wish him all the best for his ventures in future and would like to pay tribute to the proud parents of Babar, it is because of them that this 12 year old is taking the world by storm and making our nation proud.
Fridays are meant to be fun days at work, and this friday was no different. Work and those light moments and all the laughters in between; gave me a feeling that its is gonna be a nice weekend ahead. Well guess what i gotta a suprise call asking me if i am available to party tonight.. and my reply was… you guessed it right ‘HELL YEAH!’.
The sound of a party that would rock like anything felt really sweet to the ears. I just had one dilemma now, see a couple of days ago i got a couple of invites to a local channels jam session which was feautring the best in the business. The invites were for the 16th and 17th of July courtesy of ARY Music’s ‘SUMMER JAM’ and the list of talent on display was unbeatable.
Atif with the Jal Pari
Pappu Yar!!
Aamir Zaki the Maestro
Tanseer Darr
Khalid & Farooq
Gumby the Drum Bee
Omran Shafique at Lead
Anas and Rameez with Omran
We going crazy at Ali Azmat’s performance
The like of One of Pakistan’s greatest music legends AMIR ZAKI was performing there, to acconpany him he had TANSEER DARR of the band KARVAN, then they had OMRAN SHAFIQUE of the band MOUJ/co-VEN playing as well (he has somehow now become a session player but trust me man he’s damn good).
The lineup included the very melodious FAROOQ & KHALID of AAROH and finally GUMBY – arguable the best drummer around.
Hmmm a delighful line-up how can I not go and attend this, plus it was a freebie . Somehow i could not attend the event on the 16th so i was looking forward to it, but i had a feeling its gonna be a much sophiticated setting where the attendees will be much sophisticated who will be sitting throughout the sessions and admiring / enjoying the music. What i actually looking was for a crazyy night where i could dance to the music, head banging and just scream out my lungs! Read the rest of this entry »
The looming Recession and lackluster Job Scene has left many fresh graduates Feeling the heat Jobs are hard to come by and the wait is becoming frustrating.
Pay cuts, job losses and recruitment freeze have become commonplace in today’s market place, owing to recession. People with several years of work experience are encountering this unsavory trend. Evidently, the plight of recent graduates is also not looking up. However, tough times have strengthened these youngsters and many of them are working hard at coping with the recession.
An empty mind is a devil’s workshop and many graduates have taken these words to heart. So instead of languishing their free time, they are keeping themselves busy. A student, who recently completed an MBA in Finance and has been looking for jobs since December last year, has made a work out of the job hunt. He wakes up late and after getting ready and devotes most of his time hunting for job openings over the internet. He surfs internet for a job and company websites and cold call HR people of companies to check if they have any openings. The responses may not been very encouraging, but MBA student seeks solace in trying rather than throwing up his arms. He spends a lot of time meeting up friends. Thanks to recession a lot of my friends are in a similar situation. Meeting and talking to them makes me feel better. Besides, it’s better than staying at home all day.
She had been looking for some work experience before pursuing either an MCA or MSc IT. However due to recession, getting a job is tough, so she spends time studying for the CET, working out at a gym and meeting friends. Thinking too much about a problem makes it seem worse. So it’s best to keep busy and avoid over thinking
The viability of entrepreneurship in today’s market scenario is debatable. But that hasn’t stopped youngsters from exploring the option. After six months of futile job hunt, a recent management graduate, decided to explore entrepreneurship. He was not willing to short sell because of the market conditions. With good jobs hard to come by, he decided to head out on his own by starting a business that compromises training schools to help students with memory enhancement. The student has been devoting a lot of time to his upcoming venture and is hopeful about its prospects. Besides taking up his time, doing something he likes, keep his spirits up.
Education counselor feels that now may be the right time for graduates to hit the books. A lot of graduates are in a hurry to get jobs, despite the economy not fairing well. They can in fact use this time to get further qualifications because it helps in the long run. There are a variety of courses open to students looking at further education ranging from Master’s to PG diploma and correspondence courses.
Expectation can lead to much frustration for many youngsters on the look out for suitable jobs. A reputed psychiatrist says that the number of students visiting him owing to rising frustration because of a lack of jobs has tripled. He advises such students to keep it real. Many-a-times youngsters may have bragged about their prospects to their family and friends. So, it’s best that one doesn’t play hide-and-seek and admits that finding jobs is a problem because of recession. They must understand that the problem is an outcome of the market situation rather than their own merit. The parents play a pivotal role in helping their child cope with the pressure. Most youngsters are not as upset about themselves as they are about letting their parents down. They get depressed when they are unable to secure jobs or land up with low paying placements. They might feel that the money their parents spent on their education has been squandered. Parents need to support their children and help them cope with such feelings.
On the practical front, Students need to go beyond brand names. There are many small and medium enterprises that continue to hire people. Students should be looking at these as well. Being extremely specific about the job profile can create problems, especially when one is starting out with a career. Students should be willing to experiment with broader job profiles. The overall focus should be on learning not earning. Also, seeking immediate gratification can cause frustration. Just because one has a particular qualification doesn’t mean that s/he can get a job easily. Lastly, this is a good time to self introspect and ask if one’s soft skills are in place and the bio data is rightly presented.
Pakistan is now officially at war. It is time we offer unconditional support to our troops, officers and men who are fighting and dying for our honor, security and peace. We have all seen enough of filthy and sick face of TTP terrorists and their brutal massacre of innocent Pakistanis. Finally, the political government takes responsibility and takes the nation into confidence. Lets shun our differences for the moment and unite for a common cause of eliminating the terrorists who have insulted and humiliated our faith, nation and the country. It is time we remove the cancer.
We also warn the government not to succumb to US demands and dictations. We are watching the US and the government very closely and any wrong move by them would be resisted fiercely. The government of PPP must not make a wrong move or they will be exposed and removed by patriotic Pakistanis. US is demanding that:
* Pakistan’s nuke and missile program should be put under US influence.
Already this government has cut all research and development funds for the
strategic projects. US also wants to “secure” all enriched Uranium
stocks which Pakistan have.
* US wants to remove Governor NWFP Owais Ghani and bring a traitor in his
place.
* US wants Pakistan to allow transit facilities to Indians for Afghanistan.
* US wants Pakistan to go slow against Indians and focus on destroying
Taliban in Afghanistan.
We warn the government NOT to do any of the above. In fact, transit facilities to US should also be withdrawn as the US continues to keep Dr. Afia in their custody, continue to attack us with drones, continue to support terrorism in Pakistan and continue to misuse our relationship by allowing Indians to sponsor terrorism in Baluchistan and tribal areas.
We would like to make it clear that Pakistani nation does not consider Afghan Mujahideen (Mullah Omar, Gulbadin Hekmatyar and Jalal uddin Haqqani) as terrorists. The Afghans are fighting a just war of resistance against foreign occupation. Pakistani nation will not side with US and Indians to destroy Afghan Taliban.
We also strongly believe that local TTP is a terrorist organization, funded, created and sponsored by CIA, RAW and Mossad and share no values, ideology or morality with Afghan Mujahideen. TTP is a shame for Islam, Pakistan and Jihad everywhere and must be crushed with full force, as army has started to do now.
Pakistani nation must stand united on above issues. اللہ willing, we will defeat the enemies and establish the pristine, pure and benevolent values of our deen in this Pak Sarzameen, the Madina e Sani of the era.
Do your duty and have faith in اللہ . This country has come to stay and grow, انشاءاللہ
